ENGR. PROF. E. U. ODIGBOH
Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Uchechukwu Odigboh was born in 1940 at Nnewi, Anambra State. He attended Isreali Institute of Technology (Technion) Haifa, Isreal where he obtained B. Sc. in Agricultural Engineering in 1966 and later attended Pennsylvania State University, University Park USA where he obtained Ph. D in 1972 and 1974 respectively.
He joined the staff of University of Nigeria in 1966 and remained there until he was appointed Professor of Agricultural Engineering in 1978. He has served in several capacities among which are, Member of Council of COREN, Member UNIDO Consultation Group on Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Industry in Africa, Adviser to the Federal Government of Nigeria on Agricultural Mechanization matters; Institutional Coordinator for African Network of Scientific and Technological Institutes (ANSTI), Head of Agricultural Engineering Department and Dean of Engineering and one time Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Professor Odigbohâ€™s major research interest is in the design and development of Agricultural machinery for production, preservation and storage of local products. In this regard, he has invented a number of novel agricultural production and pressing machines. Some of which have earned him international awards. He has also published extensively in international journals.
Professor Odigboh is Fellow of Nigerian Society of Agricultural Engineers, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Academy of Science and is also a foundation Fellow and a member of Council of the Academy.
