ENGR. DR. S. O. MESHIDA
Born in 1933, Engr. Dr. Samuel Olusanya Meshida attended Government College, Ibadan between 1946 and 1951 and University of Ibadan from 1952 to 1954. He later proceeded to Queens University Belfast where he obtained his B. Sc. and Ph. D. in Civil Engineering in 1957 and 1960 respectively. As a student, Engr. Meshida won several honours and prizes.
After graduating, Engineer Meshida worked with Cementation Co. Ltd., both in London (1960-61), and West Africa (1961-64). In 1964, he established his own company, Nigeria Soil Engineering Company Ltd. (Soil Foundation Specialists and Contractors) which he has been managing till date. Furthermore, he has been involved with consultancy practice; he was a partner of ACE Consultants, Partner, Kirk McChire Morton Nigeria, Partner Meshida McChire Morton Projects and Director/Joint promoter, Guild Construction Company Ltd. His Company has been involved with major soil investigations works and constructions of special foundation by vibrofloatation compaction and piluing for several projects in Nigeria and other West African countries.
Engr. Dr. Meshida has also been involved with Anchor strengthening, quinting, water sealing and ground consolidation by granting at various locations such as Argyll Dam Cornwall, England, Efestining Hydrodectric Scheme, Wales, Manfer River-Intake Water Works Cameroons and others in Nigeria.
Engr. Meshida who is a Fellow and past President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, is a foundation Fellow of the Academy.
