ENGR. KASHIM ABDUL ALI

 

Engr. Kashim Abdul Ali was born on 10th June, 1958 in Ofugo – Ankpa,
Kogi State to Alhaji Abdullahi and Hajiya Maryam Ali, both late. He had his
early tutelage under his grandfather, a traditional ruler, who’s memory he holds
dearly, and early education at the NA Primary School, Ofugo, one of the few
boarding primary schools established by the defunct Northern Nigerian
government. He thereafter proceeded to Ochaja Secondary School, Kaduna
Polytechnic and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He is a
Registered Civil Engineer with post-graduation training in Highways, Water
Resources, Administration, Railway engineering, project management and
strategy.
A Member of the National Institute (mni) and recipient of the Nigeria
National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM), Engr Ali is the President,
Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Fellow and
Past President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow of the Solar Energy
Society of Nigeria, Fellow of the Academy of Engineering and Technology for
Developing World, statutory Board member of National Agency for Science and
Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and Governing Board member of the
UNESCO International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South -
South Co-operation. He was a member of Nigeria Vision 20:2020 Steering and
Implementation Committees, and Chair of the sub-Committee on Physical
Infrastructure. He was also co-Chair of the Infrastructure Policy Commission of
the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, and member of the Policy Support
Group to the Economic Management Team (2008 – 2010). He is presently a
member of the steering committee of the Infrastructure Policy Commission.
His working career commenced in the old Benue State Ministry of Works
in 1982, where he worked on important public projects like the direct labour
construction of a 54m reinforced concrete bridge at Ikpa Mbatierev on Wannune
- Igbor road, Estate roads in the Commissioners’ quarters, Makurdi, Civil works
in Benue Hotels Makurdi, and Erosion control works in Katsina Ala township
and on Anyigba - Idah highway, among others.
He joined the Federal Capital Development Authority in 1992, working
also on important projects, amongst them, Construction of the Pedan Dam,
Construction of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th units of the Lower Usuma dam water
treatment plants, Development of the framework for PPP application in the
FCT, Technical review and accelerated development of Lots 2A and 3 of the
Abuja Rail Mass Transit Project.
He served in the positions of Director/Chief Executive Officer of the FCT
Water Board, Member of the FCT Executive Committee, Special Adviser
(Utilities), Director (Technical Services) of the Abuja Infrastructure Investment
Centre, Director, Transportation and presently, Chairman of the FCT Water
Board.
He holds the traditional titles of Olimene Ata Igala, and Galadiman
Ankpa, and has several awards and recognitions locally and internationally.
He is married with children, and loves reading, writing, travelling,
adventure and social works.
