He obtained the Dipl-Ing (M.Sc) with 80% overall score in June 1970. His thesis was on ‘Production of Tetra-alkyl-Aryl Thiuram Disulphides’ (different Alkyl,-Aryl substituents) which are vulcanizers as well as Anti-abuse agents (Treatment of alcohol addiction). He designed the plant for the production of Carbon-disulphide from Carbon and Sulphur. He had practical experiences in Detergents, Pharmaceuticals, Dyes and Petrochemical industries-constituents of the curriculum.
He attended the University College London for the M.Sc DUC (Biochemical Engineering) in 1971/72 using the Commonwealth Academic Staff Scholarship. The course consisted of Chemical Engineering subjects, Biochemistry, Genetics and Microbiology. His thesis was on fermentation (microbial and enzymatic) of hydrocarbons. He explained the mechanisms for catabolic production of metabolites and the formation of microbial polymers. He designed the batch- and continuous bioreactors for the purpose.
At
the Imperial College London from September 1972, he worked on Mechanistic
Studies of High Temperature Reactions of Hydrocarbons. He designed a Re-entrant
Pyrolytic Reactor operating up to 1000oC (internal) with outside at
ambient temperature. He used the GC-mass Spectrometer meter at 10-6 torr
to qualify and quantify the pyrolytic products. He developed an Integration
programme devoid of steady-state approximation based on semi-implicit Trapezoidal
rule to model a fit and kinetics of the reaction schemes. He was awarded the
Ph.D, DIC in January 1975
He
was back at UNIFE (now OAU) in June 1975 teaching Chemical/Biochemical Reaction
Engineering, rose from Lecturer II to Professor in 1990.He supervised over 300
undergraduate theses, 14 M.Sc and 5Ph.D candidates, Taught Biochemical
Engineering at UNILAG, FUT-Minna, FUT-Akureand LAUTECH Ogbomosho. He externally
examined several M.Sc and Ph.D candidates at UNILAG, Convenant University,
UNIBEN and LAUTECH. He has also been External Examiner for about 8 Professorial
appointments/promotion outside of Ife and another 8 at OAU.
He was a member of the Governing council UNIABUJA 2002-2004, Business committee of Senate OAU (1992-2010) 18yrs and several faculty and university committees.
Professionally, He is COREN-registered (R0875). He is a member of Biochemical Engineering division of IChemE, MAIChE, Member & Fellow (NSChE).He became FNSChE 1989, was given Merit Award NSChE 1990 and President award NSChE (1991), Ag. Head of department 1981-1982, 1983/84, Head of department (2001-2007).
He
analyzed Ashlaw Crude Polluted water and gas for Mobil Producing, Nigeria
(1992-1994), coordinated workshops on Biotechnology for NASENI and OAU
(1998-2002).
He retired September 2010 but was appointed contract Professor from October 2010. He won two faculty Merit Awards for meritorious services and excellent headship, respectively. He is currently co-ordinating the design and construction of a pilot plant for the production of Biofuels for OAU-NABDA. He has published over 50 articles in reputable local and international Journals.
