Born on the 1st June, 1942 at Ilesa in Osun State. Engr. Emmanuel Oluwafemi Awoyinfa had his primary education at Otapete Methodist School Ilesa. He received his secondary education at Ilesa Grammar School in (1949 â€“ 1954) and the Higher School Certificate from St. Patrickâ€™s College Asaba. He had a Federal Government Scholarship into West Ham College, an Internal College of the University of London, where he graduated with B.Sc in Chemical Engineering in 1967.
On his return to Nigeria, Engr. Awonyinfa was employed as a
Trainee Engineer in Lever brothers Nigeria Limited where he was till 1974, when
he was appointed the first Nigerian Industrial Chemical Manager consultant for
Shell Nigeria Limited ( Now Conoil) with responsibility for the design of the
first liquid detergent plant in Apapa Factory for â€śTeepolâ€ť, as well as the
design of many Chemical, Mechanical and Electrical systems for many
factories which were clients of shell
Nigeria (e.g Berger Paint, Vitafoam).
He served as the first National Publicity Secretary and later Secretary-General of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers. He was also National Publicity Secretary, Secretary-General of the Nigerian Societies of Engineers and served on the Council of COREN between 1979 and 1990.
He championed the keen interest of the WFEO on women in the activities of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). Between 1989 and
2007, Engr Awoyinfa served on the Executive Council of the World Federation of
Engineering Organization (WFEO). He ensured that the Organization took
interest in the Anti Corruption programmes in engineering projects worldwide.
He also organized and participated in several other specialized
workshops/conferences of WFEO.
Engr. Awoyinfa is a COREN
Registered Engineer. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and
the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers.
