Born on 12th December, 1953, Prof. Obafemi Ajibola attended Government
College, Ibadan (1965-1970). He obtained a First Class honours degree in
Agricultural Engineering in 1975 from University of Ife now (OAU). He proceeded
to University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA where he obtained M.Sc and Ph.D degree
in 1978 and 1981 respectively, specializing in the processing of agricultural
materials.
Professor Ajibola had earlier joined the employment of University of Ife in
August 1976, and on his return from study leave in 1981, he was based in the
Department of Agricultural Engineering where, based on his contributions, he
rose through the ranks and was ultimately promoted Professor of Agricultural
Engineering with effect from October 1990. His dedication to hard work and
excellence in the meantime earned him several positions within the University,
including Vice-Dean, Faculty of Technology (1988-1990). Dean, Faculty of
Technology (1998-99), Presently, Professor Ajibola is the Managing
Director/Chief Executive Officer of New Nigeria Foundation, a Non-Governmental
Organisation (NGO). A position he took since 2001 on leave of absence from OAU.
Prof. Ajibola has over the years also served as Consultant to many national and
private sector organizations including, Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC),
Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), Food and Agricultural
Organisation (FAO), Directorate for Infrastructural Development (DFID), Shell
Petroleum Development Company, CHEVRON etc. In recognition of his contributions
to engineering profession, he was conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian
Society of Engineers, NSE as well as Nigerian Institution of Agricultural
Engineering.
